Well, not really sure where they should be rated as it is so early in the season. That cold snap didn't do any good for any of the girls. This leaves
things open for your expert intervention...:

It seems that Renegades 94 enjoy the sunshine this weekend as they beat Heat 94 in the final 5-3 in 7 innings at the Pride and Power Tournament at Softball
City. Although they lost 5-4 to Heat 94 in the round robin with the Renegades big lefty hitter putting 2 over the fence. The lefty pitcher for Heat can sure
throw and beat Renegades in the round robin and had a perfect game going for almost 4 innings in the final. Renegades bats caught on fire and they scored 5
runs to go up 5-2 and held them for the 5-3 final.
94 teams there were the Islanders 94, Pride 94, Heat 94 and Renegades 94. No Devils 94, Fusion 94 or Storm 94 to get a better gauge of which team is rated the highest right now. Bragging rights at the Tournament go to Renegades 94. Great tournament to Heat as they pulled out a win in the quarter final against Pride. Down 1-0 on an error by the lefty pitcher, dropping the ball down in the circle and walking off the field with only 2 away thinking there was 3 out, Pride runner on 3rd scored to go up 1-0. Then in the bottom of the last inning, with time expired, Pride walked 2 batters and had 2 away when the lefty pitcher came to bat. A passed ball moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. She had 2 strikes against her and hit a great triple to score both runners and win the game. |

An add on to my last post, seems the Renegade 94 team ran into a buzz saw with Fusion 94 lastnight. That Fusion team that I thought were the sleeper team of PW
took it to Renegades lastnight. That Fusion team was fast, hit well and played good defense and beat Renegades 7-3.
As I have been saying all season watch out for this team as they won the Newton Tournament and then placed 3rd in Seattle against the older kids this past weekend. Hopefully all of the 94 teams will be at Richmond at the end of the month for an old fashoned showdown. |

Talk in the stands is your 94 Devils have been playing Bantam B and A Tournaments in Canada and playing the older girls down in the states all spring and doing very well. This makes me assume the head coach for Devils is coming to Richmond to take home the hardware. How have your 2 tall pitchers been doing? |

Heh Slick. To get the competition, we play in the Midget B league locally and try to face the best competition we can in the tournaments we enter (win or
lose). We've done okay so far this year. We were at Newton this weekend at the Bantam A tournament and came out with mixed reviews. We looked good in
two wins but got our butts kicked in the other two (losses). However, we're hoping this will only help us in the long run.
The two 'tall' pitchers are pitching well but we really won't know how they compare unitl we see the other Peewee teams next weekend in Richmond. Did you make it out to Newton this weekend to check us out? We looked like two different teams. That's how it goes when you face those older kids. They just hit the ball a little harder, have a little quicker arms, and make a few more plays (just what we needed to face to get better......hopefully). |

I think that the competition on the Island for your Pee Wee A team, other than Naniamo, is minimal at best so it only makes sense to play Bantam so that the
girls can be competitive and rise to the competition. This sounds like a great idea.
I was away so I missed the Newton Tourny this weekend. What teams did you beat? Nice to see that by the time these girls get to Bantam they really start to play the game the way is is meant. The arms are better, the defence is better, thinking and game smarts are better but best of all the hitting is better. |

All went to Richmond. Finally saw everyone. Time to rank:
1) Heat 94 won tourney, they are tops now. Showed some power 2) Devils 94 toughest round-robin, second in tourney. 3)Renegades 94 2-losses to Devils on Sunday, beat Fusion, but too tired against Islanders 4) Fusion 94 played tough all weekend. 5) Islanders 94 didn't play anyone in round-robin, lost to Heat and beat up a tired Renegades. 6) Pride and Storm 94 Let's hear it. |

oldnewguy you are right on the money. Heat 94 earned the right to be ranked number 1 after this weekend. I stand and applaud their effort as they battled
adveristy all weekend. All of the teams there made this like a mini Provincals. Renegades 94 beat Heat 94 in the round robin by scoring 5 in their last at bats
to win 6-5. Heat 94 and Renegades were tied with 6 points in the round robin but edged Renegades out by scoring 1 extra run during round robin and took 3rd to
kick Renegades down to 4th after round robin.
Renegades were at the park at 730 am for the start of Sundays fun at 9. They lost there last round robin to the Devils and then Beat Fusion 94 in the quater finals and had a great game against Devils 94 in the semi-final as they made a great come back to tied the game at 5 with the winning run at 2nd base with none away. The Devils Ace right hand pitch took over for the big lefty and shut Renegades out the rest of the way. It went to the 3 international innings before Devils finally beat Renegades 6-5. Islanders 94 beat up the tired Renegades in the consolation as there heart was just not in their 4th game of the day after the emotional roller coaster of the Devils game. Devils showed very well as expected and should be ranked 2nd. Even though Renegades 94 got pounded by Islanders 94, Renegades should take the number 3 ranking right now. Fusion 94 battled Devils to a 1-1 draw during the round robin and lost to Renegdaes in the quater finals but still showed that they are not a team to be taken lightly and should be ranked numer 4 and Islander 94 taking 5th, Pride 94 6th and Storm 94 are struggling as they were beat again by Storm 95. Lets see if that stirrs thing ups....or better yet insight from someone else. |

maybe this was best left unsaid - Na - It was a great, great weekend of ball but how does Richmond not win this
tournament, all the big teams beat the crap out of each other and Richmond plays 2- 95 teams, Storm 94 and Edmonton, I'm sure if the Devils, WR, Fusion, or Heat had been given that draw they would have stayed home. Medals vs playing great ball no contest. home. |

The team bonding that this weekend did for 3 of the top teams can not be bought and paid for, they earned it. To see Heat hold on twice on comebacks after
Renegades came back on them was shear guts, and then to come back and win against Devils, WOW. To see Renegades come back on Heat and then come back on Devils
gives them the feeling no lead is insurmountable. Fusion to tie Devils and feel that they should have beaten them gives them the feeling they can play with all
of the top teams. Devils to loose the final must have tore their guts out as this was their first PW Tournament as they have been playing nothing but Bantam A
& B tournaments this year and they felt they had this one in the bag, finishing 2nd in the round robin and getting a bi into the semi.

Slick, I think your right. The devils are probably folding right now if they didn't throw themselves off the ferry. Crushed. Wow, I hope they can go on.
Well, we can wait and see if they recover.

Slick, while I agree with most of what you said, I will argue one point. The girls on the Devils didn't "tear out their guts" -- in fact, they
were cheering loudly right to the end, and were very proud to have earned their berth in the final.

Sportscoat & m13cn...didn't mean for it to sound like it did...Devils girls did a great job are a great squad and showed what kind of team they are by
beating Renegades in 3rd international. That was all guts after having the Renegade shortstop climb the ladder and double the girl off at 3rd inthe 2nd
international.
I was just talking about what was being said in the stands on the Devils side that they had been warming up for this tournament playing Bantam tournaments and things just didn't go your way in the end. The girls played outstanding and deserved 2nd in the round robin. 4 games on the last day is very tough. The girls all look forward to seeing the Devils more often as the competion was great. The girls all rise to the level of their competion, build a bridge accross the water and make it a 20 minute commute..... |

The Devils have been playing Midget "B" and Bantam "A" tournaments to get some steady competition. The draw for the Richmond tournament was
great because all games were against the other top teams: no place to hide against weak teams. It could have gone the other way and played developing younger
teams or from out of province, but you don't get anything out of blowing out teams except medals. Some teams are satisfied with that. It was the first time
the Devils played at 38'. I must say the umpiring at Richmond was a step above the normal, well done blue. What do you think Slick?

Touche, Richmond 94...and everyone thought I was the bad child on here..LOL...Right on m13cn... Some blue were better than the others with some of the younger
umps getting some more experience. Glad they brought in the more qialified for the semis and finals.
Now if we can get 3 or 4 more tournys like that we could really get things hot for the provincials. Rooms booked for Montreal yet? |
