As usual, the annual U of T tournament for Midget, College & University teams is taking place this weekend (September 5-7) in Clarkson. It has become a
popular opportunity for coaches to assess potential new lineups for next season. Does anyone have details on who is participating this year?

Mississauga SW '91 (midget rep) will be there, as will Bramalea (midget rep), Etobicoke Kaos (all-star midget), Brockville bantam (?), Mississauga North
(bantam rep) , U of T (OIWFA) , York (OIWFA) & Palmerston (midget rep, not sure which one). Not sure who in rep will be fielding 2008 line-ups and who
will be fielding 2009 hopefuls. Weather permitting, Friday gets underway with U of T vs Etobicoke & MSBA Hurricanes vs York on the lit diamond.
Looking forward to seeing what Clarkson and/or other powers that be do with that second, curiously slanted diamond. |

For Friday games, it was U of T over Etobicoke and York U. over Mississauga SW. Rest of round robin was played out on Saturday & I gather that the sudden death final rounds were cancelled in midstream today (Sunday) because of the rain. Too bad. It was a good tournament with an interesting mix of teams. |

Softballed - as touched on in the first posting, before the rainout this tournament was in play at the U of T home diamonds at Birchwood Park in Clarkson last weekend (Sept. 5 -7). U of T runs this tournament every year as a fundraiser and it features among other things the increased University pitching distance of an additional 3'. |

Was referring to the previous posting (1bsdad) saying that Sunday was rained out. It mentioned that there were still a couple of games to be played.

Final day of tournament was stopped in mid-stream. I believe it had just reached the final medal round of U of T vs Palmerston and York U. vs Bramalea. Regrettably there are no plans to play out these games. Since part of the prize money was a refund of the tournament fee, this rain cancellation will naturally serve to bolster U. of T.'s fundraising success! |
