Thanks for the information. I was impressed with the pitching at the tournament (five or six of them especially). I even seen a 95 throwing very well. Should be an interesting Provincials.

Did have the radar gun on the Heat 94 pitcher - 56 consistently, one or two 57
both Devils pitchers - 55 consistently - one or two 56
Renegades 94 pitcher - 55 consistently - one or two 56
So they all seem to be in the same range - no one on any team
hit 59 or 60 - So I guess in the gym, gunning from right behind the plate,
right at the pitcher, they will have all been clocked at 60, but out on the field
gunning from at least 10-15 back behind the backstop, all...

Did anyone have a radar gun at the Peewee A tournament last weekend? I'm thinking no one was close to the 60 mph (as advertised) but may have gotten over the 55 mph mark?

LOL...you whack me right out...160 games, next year maybe when they are taking it easy. this year they have a chance to go to the show in Quebec so it's 164 games just like the bigs...LOL...and the parent questioning starts, not going to go there, but nice try,,,,,LOL...good to see you back oldnewguy

shouldn't be a problem - just need to play 160 games, double headers every time out. Whats this parents
questioning pitching starts stuff?

the girls are not generally the problem, parents want to know why their daughter is not getting the starts pitching but playing another position.

Of course, with the threat of injury always looming, those other pitchers must be game ready throughout the season. Trouble is, it can be difficult for some of these youngsters to understand their role on the team when they may not get called on often, but must still be ready to pitch when the get the nod.

Depth of pitching on these Pee Wee teams is tough to have past your second or third girl. Hard to give adaquate pitching time with more than 3 pitchers. Competativeness inside of these girls makes it hard for them to pitch every 4th game with 3 pitchers as most want every game, every inning. They need games not practice to hone their skills and keep them sharp.

That's the fun of it! All the bragging in the world won't help in those big games. When we talk about pitching, it's gonna come down to control and mental toughness.

Take away the 1 kid that throws 60+ and look at the next starter, maybe take her away also and look at the quality
of the next 1 or 2 in line, provinicals eat up pitchers better have it covered.

She's not alone -- there's another in this division who is into the 60's ... I'm looking forward to enjoying some good games this time around. Let's hope the umps give these girls a consistent strike zone.

so true, location, location, location. I knew a pitcher that was almost impossible to hit when he threw 48 mph. his location and movement, knuckleball killed you. made you look like a fool. But then how many high and tight strike 3's have you seen, speed can blow them away too.

60 for this girl makes her change up that much more effective.

Lisa Fernandez, order of importance. 1 location, 2 movement, 3 speed. Albiet this girl is young and hopefully, if not already there to some degree, the other two will come. As a second point, would be interesting to see what the speed, location and movement is when actually in a game. Speed decreases of 5 MPH are not uncommon from the practice to playing field, along with a proportional lack of command of the other two and most important disciplines. 60 though is no doubt an impressive speed...

There is a girl throwing 60 everyday over here. had the gun on her and it was 60, 8 times in a row...these girls are getting very good at such an early age, raising the bar...

I don't think anyone who knows the first thing about pitching would disagree with you that after learning to throw a strike, a pitcher learns to throw a changeup (25% speed reduction is a great target) then the dropball. It is inevitable however, that some of the top Peewee pitchers in the country will be learning how to throw a riseball in the next year or two. Whether they ever gain mastery of this pitch is another thing.
